    St. Philomena's Church
St. Philomena's Church is one of Hawaii's most well-known churches, not for it's architectural features, but for its historical value. From 1866 to 1969, lepers were banished to Molokai from the other islands in the Hawaiian archipelago. In 1873 a Belgium priest by the name of Damien de Veuster came to the island. He created an organized community, enforced laws, grew food and built St. Philomena's Church with his own two hands. Today the church is recognized by the National Register of Historic Places and is located in Kalaupapa National Historical Park. Father Damien's grave is also found in the park.
Address: Kalaupapa National Park Kalaupapa  HI  USA  96742
